Some Perils of Online Dating

When people begin the interesting and long road of online dating, they will almost certainly encounter fabrications along the way.  Often people exaggerate or even downright lie when they are posting stuff online in order to find a date or relationship.  Seems to me like a lot of people enjoy presenting an idealized version of themselves that actually isn’t true.  I believe nowadays most in fact expect some sort of “enhancement” of features on profiles in order to try and attract more potential dates, followers, etc.  And then when it comes to actually meeting in person, people are almost certain to be underwhelmed (at least initially).  One possible reason I consider this to be true is that there’s an instinctive desire in some, if they’re desperate enough, to try wooing as many people as possible.  In the end they might believe it was worth it as long as they receive the desired attention.  Perhaps some others actually think it could be funny posting lies or exaggerations, and they just do it for the laugh.  Also, some people might consider their enhanced details to be more like bends of the truth rather than absolute falsehoods.  In other people there could actually be a desire to really harm those they encounter, and of course that would be something to frown on.
